Autonomous Reality Capture boosted as Leica Geosystems announce deal with Sunbelt Rentals UK

Today, the future of autonomous 'Reality Capture' surveying solutions was given a major boost as Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon announced Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland as a BLK Premium authorised distributor.

In this interview, Peter Haddock takes spot the dog with his own BLK-ARC autonomous laser scanning module and a handheld BLK2GO imaging laser scanner for a 3D reality capture walk, accompanied by UK Sales Manager for Reality Capture, Phil Marsh.

Phil and Peter talk about how both devices can be used to create a 3D digital twin while an individual, spot the dog, or even a BLK2FLY drone moves through a space. It's a fantastic technology product range that even Peter can use to create a scan of a large building, structure or the environment around me.

In this case, Peter and Spot were scanning the GEO Business Show and Digital Construction Week stands and visitors we passed on their journey to meet with Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland Survey Director, Stuart Nash.

He spoke to Peter about how important becoming a distributor of this cutting-edge technology will be for his customers and the industry at large. Stuart: "Giving our customers access to the full BLK portfolio of individual sensors is a really exciting proposition for the future.

They will now be able to take advantage of one product family that can capture and deliver data through a single 3D enabled ecosystem. "Becoming a distributor of these products will ultimately help us to help our customers profit from the latest cutting edge and autonomous 'Reality Capture' technology." It certainly is an exciting time for the surveying sector, and Boston Dynamics spot the dog is taking full advantage of the autonomous opportunities presented to him.
