Careers at Caterpillar Alison Ward Talent Acquisition Manager talks to Peter at Plantworx

GCSE and A-Level results are now in, so what about the next steps for a future career in the Construction and Plant Sectors?

Peter Haddock talked to Talent Acquisition Manager Alison Ward of Caterpillar Inc. at Plantworx Construction Exhibition 2023 to find out all about the opportunities available in the UK, from apprenticeships to graduate placements and more.

With over 10,000 people employed working for one of the Caterpillar owned brands in the UK, including Perkins Engines Company Limited, there has never been a better time to join the industry, as Alison explains:

"There are so many opportunities now to join our sector and very diverse roles, from marketing to engineering and much more. Last year saw our largest ever intake of apprentices and graduates, and we are looking to recruit a lot more this year.

"The sector is also changing, so there are now newer roles in technology and electrification, for example, with some of our career programmes designed to rotate individuals through different disciplines.

"This is a great way of getting a full and rounded experience of the business whilst working in inclusive and diverse teams.

"And when people discover the construction industry and this sector, they soon see how exciting it is and how passionate people are about being part of it."
