Celebrating operator influencer Lana Edwards at the Hitachi Leica Geosystems and Engcon Dig Day

For the start of our influencer interview mini series, Peter Haddock talks to Lana, who has inspired him and many others with her tireless promotion of #Womeninconstruction and the plant sector, particularly with her 'Lady Lana' Hitachi 225-7 excavator. In this interview, Peter was privileged to hold her award for Unsung Hero Wales, which she recently won at the National Federation of Builders (NFB) awards night. She was also recognised as one of the Top 100 Women in Construction at the event. It's an interview we have wanted to do for a long time, and it was by chance that Peter met on a Saturday at the Hitachi Construction Machinery (UK) Connected Technologies Dig Day held at the Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon school in Shropshire.

The event showcased new products and how 3D machine control technology can be integrated with tilt-rotators from Engcon UK Ltd , allowing operators to try it for themselves.  And you guessed it, Lana was spending her day off learning about Leica Geosystems 3D machine control and Engcon on various Hitachi machines.  Taking time out from the dig zone, Lana discussed her amazing award win and why she tirelessly works to promote our sector in the hope that others will join from all walks of life.  Again all her video work is additional to her day job where she operates her very own 'Lady Lana' Hitachi 225-7 purchased and specially branded by Richard O Donnell MD of R O'DONNELL CIVIL ENGINEERING.
