Contractor Gnant proves the power of the connected worksite using Leica Geosystems 3D Machine Control and surveying solutions. Peter Haddock talks to Roland Maurer, its 3D machine control and digitalisation specialist at Bauma 2022. Based in Austria, Gnant has delivered a spectacular housing development with an amazing lake using a 3D connected site approach. Ronald explains: “We have over 35 machines in our fleet using Leica Geosystems 3D machine control.
To support this equipment, we have an engineering & surveying team that uses Leica Geosystems survey equipment, including a drone, to map our projects and design the earthworks models for the machines. “Connecting over the GPS network using the Leica ConX cloud-based solution, we can send models and updates straight to the machines from the office. We also receive information from the equipment onsite as our operators are trained to use buckets and dozer blades to take measurements as they progress onsite.
The site has 170 family homes, and 35 lakeside residents, which sit next to a technically challenging 3D machine made lake. Ronald: “Without machine control and all of our careful measurements, we couldn’t possibly create the lake, which is stunning.” The whole project was brought to life at Bauma through an interactive table on the stand of Leica Geosystems parent company Hexagon. And the team from Hexagon will also be at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas. 14-18 March, 2023, so be sure to visit its stand in North Hall, Booth: N-12325 You can find out what will be on show at its dedicated Conexpo website page here https://hexagon.com/resources/events/...
