Develon launches its 40 tonne DX400HD-9 crawler excavator, showcasing its heavy-duty spec at its Prague dig day.

Peter Haddock caught up with Stephane Dieu for a quick rundown of its key features.

Stephane: “The DX400 HD comes with a heavy-duty boom and arm, full track guards, quarry shoes and a bucket up to 2.4 cubic metres.

“It’s a powerful machine packed with technology to improve performance and safety. One key feature is our E-Stop active Human Form Detection.

“This utilises six HD cameras and radar sensors to automatically slow down or stop the machine as people approach.”

Key additional machine features include:

  • 42 tonne operating weight
  • New DX08 336.6 hp / 251.0 kW Develon engine with auto idle shut off, increasing productivity by up to 10%
  • 12.8-inch display supports programmable advanced joysticks with new stick and thumb wheel steer features

More technology:

  • Onboard weigh system to log production.
  • Smart AVM provides a 360-degree view of the job site.
  • A virtual wall function that can limit height, depth, swing and reach movements. 
  • The advanced lift assist function actively monitors lifting capacity and potential tipping hazards.
  • Machine Guidance 2D and Smart Control 2D features can be upgraded to 3D machine control from the likes of Leica Geosystems.
