Electric vs Diesel LiuGong excavators in action

“We have the electric power”, says James Higgs of LiuGong Machinery Europe as Peter Haddock witnesses its big green 922F go head to head with its diesel equivalent.

The test was conducted at its BEV Experience in Poland. And as you will see in the video, the electric version's power beat that of its diesel equivalent.

James: “We have designed the electric version with 165kW of instant power, and our very capable sixth-generation diesel has 116kW.

“This means our electric machine has greater speed and can deliver more productivity as the electric powertrain operates at 94% efficiency, significantly higher than the diesel variant.

Talking about its general operation, James added: “For the right job site and application, these electric machines can work between 8 to 10 hours.

“While this machine can run in high-power mode for heavy tasks,  it can also operate very efficiently in standard mode, which increases the battery life.”

Peter added: “We will soon see how it operates on UK job sites. As leading plant hirer  Flannery Plant Hire revealed its first machine at Hillhead, which is now in testing. I hope to see this for myself and learn about the practical application of the big green excavator onsite.”
