Fasten your seatbelt there is more to come says Wacker Neuson Linz factory MD

Stefan Bogner, talks to Peter Haddock at the factory in Linz, Austria, earlier this year for an in-depth conversation about plans for its state-of-the-art factory.

As we look to 2024 and beyond, exciting things are happening with the brand, such as the EW100 wheeled excavator and the new DV45 dual view bumper, both powered by Perkins Engines, which are now entering markets across the globe.

The factory itself is also expanding thanks to other partnerships with brands like John Deere and the success of its expanding ‘Born Electric’ range, with its smaller battery powered mini excavators already making up a fifth of all sales in that class.

And looking beyond the machines, a relatively recent 2MW solar installation at its Linz factory is now covering almost all of its energy needs with more renewables planned, making the yellow of Wacker Neuson much greener.

Stefan: “We now have a team of over 1200 employees on site, which will expand further when the new line comes online. Having our engineering teams also based in our factory helps us continue our journey at pace. For example, we are already looking at adding more features to the EW100 and how connectivity and machine control will support our customers.

“This product, in particular, is exceeding expectations, and when you see a skilled operator using it, what they can achieve is fantastic. I think our real advantage is how we marry quality and performance to deliver industry-leading uptime from our products, and this is crucial to our success with large rental businesses in particular.

“It is also why our long-term partnerships with our suppliers like Perkins Engines are important as their engineers have worked together with our teams now for over ten years, helping us perfect and optimise the performance of our products.”

Peter added : “It’s certainly a fascinating journey Wacker Neuson is on, and it’s great to see such enthusiasm from one of its leaders, Stefan, whose energy is infectious. I look forward to seeing how the brand continues to grow in the future.”
