Fixing machines and stopping oil leaks

Peter Haddock met with Luke to talk about how he was repairing a Volvo wheel loader.

Luke also explained the process they go through when looking after a machine.

Luke: “From the initial diagnosis onsite, which highlighted several oil leaks, we knew this Volvo had to come into the workshop and had a good idea of the work that would need carrying out so we could get all of the parts in place.

“In the workshop, we then went through a further detailed inspection to investigate where the oil leaks were coming from, which led to the replacement of the front and rear crank seals as well as other maintenance work.

“At each part of the process, we talk to the customer team about the work that needs to be carried out and, in this case, were able to use imagery to highlight the work needed. Once repairs are finished, we then go through a testing process to ensure we have fixed the problem before it goes back to site.”

Peter added: “It’s great to see maintenance work like this taking place first hand as it shows the engineering skills that are needed in our industry.

“It also helps to understand the importance of overall asset management and how businesses like United Plant Rentals are helping to keep the sector moving.”
