Flannery Operator Hotel offers great accommodation facilities and food for operators working on HS2

Introducing the Flannery Plant Hire Operator Hotel for HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd Peter Haddock goes onsite to find out all about the hotel, and its facilities, including great food, rooms and a gym, all set up for operators to use. And instead of the 4-hour commute for operator Chloe Rackley, the HS2 site she is working on is just 10 minutes down the road. So the 'home away from home' as Chloe describes it makes a huge difference to operator wellbeing, being part of a team, fatigue and much more. It also enables operators to mix with the local community whilst providing in and outdoor spaces to relax. Peter spoke to operator Matthew on his visit, who added: "It's a nice place for me to be, I think, because this sense of community is really helpful. "A lot of the time, you might just want to spend some time on your own, and you've got your room for that, but 90% of the time, everyone's out and about just talking to each other and getting to know each other more. It's a really, very nice place to be." Chloe also added: "Everything's really nice. You can go and speak to anyone. Everyone's so helpful. The food's great, or you can make your own food if that's what you prefer because the facilities are great. There's plenty of parking too." For Patrick O'Leary, who runs the facility, it's all about supporting operators: "There's great energy in the hotel with our staff, the operators and the community, and it's perfect for new operators that might not have worked away from home before." Watch this video to find out more, as this is no ordinary operator hotel. This is the Flannery Operator Hotel. And we think it's a brilliant idea that helps individuals be safer on the job site and makes it more attractive for others to join our sector.
