Flannery apprentice operator Jessica Holmes a year on since joining the trailblazer scheme

Peter Haddock met Jessica on the first week of her apprenticeship at the Operator Skills Hub and recently caught up with her at a special 'Women in Construction' plant operator event to encourage more female operators to join our industry. Peter didn't know Jessica was going to be there, so couldn't resist finding out how she was getting on.  Jessica "It wasn't easy finding my feet at first, but now I have gained experience onsite, I am really enjoying it, especially operating the digger, as there is so much to think about." She has raced through her tickets training on an Ammann Group roller, a dumper, a Caterpillar Inc. ADT and a Hydrema dual view dumper. And she now has her sights set on a Komatsu UK Ltd 365 Hybrid excavator from Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd after recently finishing her excavator training.  She has even started simulator training for 3D machine control from the likes of Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon. Meeting Jessica again, Peter was so impressed with her progress and her confidence as she spoke to other women at the event, explaining what she has achieved and the opportunities ahead. We need more and more role models like her, and at Content With Media we are proud to have been given the opportunity to tell part of her ongoing story. She and her colleagues are the future of our industry, and we will continue to do my best to highlight all the reasons why. If you know someone that would like to join Jessica as an apprentice or train as a plant operator with Flannery, why not get in touch at this link (you might also see a familiar face on the page) https://www.flanneryplanthire.com/com...
