JCBs mobile Hydrogen refuelling site solution explained to Peter Haddock by Mark Richards

Hydrogen powered off road machines need a Hydrogen refuelling solution. Fortunately, one is already available, as Peter Haddock discovered in the fourth video in our series on ‘JCB’s Hydrogen Journey’ from the UK team making it happen.  In this latest episode, Peter speaks to Mark Richards, Principal Engineer at JCB, about the Hydrogen refueller it has developed to support the future rollout of its growing Hydrogen powered fleet.  As we all know, having an alternatively fuelled machine onsite is great, but ideally, you need to take the fuel to the equipment, especially for larger tracked machines.  So closing the loop from the major refilling station onto the job site is super important. And as Peter learnt for himself (he used to have an LPG car), it was a very simple and similar process to refuel the backhoe loader next to the JCB refueller.  With the speed of refuelling comparative to a diesel bowser coming onto the site, we can see why Hydrogen will be the main alternative fuel of the future for larger off-road machines and equipment.  If you are interested in seeing other videos in our Content With Media series, visit this link to my YouTube playlist https://bit.ly/3GEX7jR  And keep an eye out for more content on Hydrogen coming soon, including an interview with JCB’s Chief Innovation and Growth Officer, Tim Burnhope and a podcast with Clare Jackson, CEO of Hydrogen UK.
