Just give it a go chatting 3D machine control with Pete and Josh

They are the brains inside any machine, and that’s why Peter loves speaking to operators onsite about how they are using the latest technology and machines.

So, for the third episode of our Leica Geosystems and One Point Survey ‘South West Connected Tour’ series, Peter first chatted with experienced operator, mentor, and 3D Machine Control advocate, Pete.

He has been operating for 40 years and, in that time, has become an advocate of machine control, so much so that he was instrumental in Morcom investing in the technology with support from the One Point Survey team.

Pete loves to pass on his knowledge, mentoring others like operator Josh, who Peter met on his second day using machine control in his Hitachi Construction Machinery (UK) excavator.

Pete: “I showed Josh the ropes on my machine for about four weeks, helping him get to grips with the technology. And he is already picking it up nicely.”

Josh added: “At first, it was a little bit daunting getting used to the system. The best way I would describe it is user friendly. I am not that computer literate, but it’s easy enough to use, and now I can get into the machine and start working on the model straight away.

Peter added: “It was great to meet both Josh and Pete and to see how Morcom Construction is also using surveying equipment and software from Leica Geosystems to create its 3D models.

There will be more to come on that in an interview with engineering surveyor Chris McGill.
