Komatsu PC700011E The BIGGEST Electric Machine at Bauma 2025

Peter Haddock walked around this amazing machine with expert Dr Thomas Jordan.

Some key facts about the PC7000-11E

in its backhoe configuration:

  • 700 tonne fully electric excavator
  • 3,400 horsepower equivalent to two Bugatti Chiron supercars
  • Same performance as the diesel equivalent
  • It has its own ‘dancefloor’ due to the fewer parts needed, which leads to less maintenance and a lower total cost of ownership.
  • Equipped with a 44 m³ bucket capable of lifting 80 tonnes or the equivalent of 40 mid-sized cars in one scoop.
  • The electric drive system is tethered to the grid via a trailing cable and automatic cable drum, providing a 300 metre working radius and high-efficiency power delivery.

Thomas: “The PC7000-11E is assembled Like LEGO but built for mines. We used over a dozen trailers to deliver the PC7000-11E to Bauma, with over a month of assembly on-site.

“The scale is huge, for example, each trackpad manufactured in our Düsseldorf factory weights 800kg.”

Joining Peter in the huge cab, Thomas added: “The cab is designed with extreme climate performance in mind from -50°C to +50°C and includes everything from climate control to 360° camera views for safety.

“We have also added advanced technology with our operator assist solution, which helps to optimise bucket fills, load planning, payload accuracy, and material flow.”

“With the PC7000-11E, it’s not just about going electric. It’s about how we can support customers to be more efficient, more sustainable, and more productive.”
