L F Pearce Son on building the UKs first Autonomous Vehicle Test Track

Building the Road to Autonomy with LF Pearce & Son on the site of the UK's first Autonomous Vehicle Test track. In this Ritchie Bros., the used equipment specialist supported video, Peter Haddock speak to owner Derek Pearce about how his team is using Trimble Civil Construction 3D machine control from dealer Sitech UK and Ireland on the project.

LF Pearce is working on the CAVWAY project for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, funded by Applus+ IDIADA. It's designed in 3D with varying cambers, roundabouts, junctions, flyovers and crossings to mimic UK roads. Once completed, it will be used to test and support the continuous development of autonomous vehicles, driving the road to autonomy.

To deliver the project, Derek and his team are using Caterpillar dozers and JCB excavators, one of which has a Steelwrist UK tiltrotator. Other businesses are also supporting the team, with ADT's from Moore Transport and compaction equipment from Red Bull Equipment Ltd It's going to be an amazing facility, and it’s great to see it being built with the latest 3D machine control technology.
