The new compact DS4000 ground penetrating radar goes deeper and works for longer.
Peter Haddock caught up with Leica Geosystems expert Simon Pedley at Hexagon Live to explore the new DS4000 model that replaces the popular DS2000.
Key improvements include :
• 30% deeper detection with enhanced signal clarity
• Smaller, lighter form factor—ideal for transport and site handling
• Collapsible frame for easy stowing and shipping
• Improved tablet with extended battery life and hot-swappable batteries to allow for full shift operation Simon added:
“We have designed the DS4000 to be both simple to use and set up. Being lighter and smaller means it can be transported and assembled in minutes by one person.
“This, in turn, enables construction, utilities, and surveying professionals to see more and reach deeper.
“We have also listened to end-users to make it easy to switch the antenna polarisation to help see through obstacles like rebar. It’s as simple as removing the straps and spinning it around.”
With underground utility strikes remaining a global concern, the DS4000 is built for more accessible, accurate, and efficient detection, helping keep job sites safe while boosting productivity.
