Liugong DR50 Battery Powered Rigid Dump Truck in Action in Norway

The Biggest, Greenest Machine we have ever seen…

In this video, Peter Haddock got to ride in and chat about the LiuGong Europe DR50C-E rigid dump truck with Kim Massey of the Rental Group in Norway at its Total Electric Solutions Day.  Peter:

"I nearly break my gimbal as Kim hits the accelerator, and the power kicks in. We then talk through the loading and tipping process and get to do a fully loaded hill start.  "But for me, the extra surprise was in the regen as we drove fully loaded, all of which have been captured in this video.

" Kim also explained how this machine now forms part of its fully electric fleet offering.

Kim: "We have been testing the DR50C-E for some time and have now ordered more units for our fleet. This will help us to accelerate the rollout of larger electric solutions, which allows us to look at how we fleet match for quarrying and mining applications.

Talking about the performance of the machine, Kim added: "Electric vehicles bring a new level of performance to off-highway applications. The torque and control they offer are unmatched, especially when tackling inclines with a full payload.  "And when you look at the benefits of regeneration, which for our site demo reaches 300kW at its peak, it's a real game-changer."  Key stats for the DR50C- E:

  • 40 tonne compact rigid truck
  • Loading capacity of 45 tonnes
  • Powered by a 432kWH battery pack
  • Charged by the Rental Group Norway on the day with a 300kW fast charger from battery storage or its Hydrogen fuel cell.
  • Comes with advanced safety features and quiet operation

Peter added "And as you will see in this video, it really is very quiet in the cab."
