Meet AEON, the humanoid robot reshaping the future, at Hexagon Live in Las Vegas.
At this year’s event, Peter Haddock spoke with expert Emanuele Aucone, who explained more about AEON’s impressive AI capabilities to learn on the job.
Emanuele: “AEON is a humanoid, which is a robot with a human factor. It has legs, wheels, arms and most importantly, the ability to perform tasks in a human way”
Unlike conventional robots, AEON is designed for real-world functionality:
• Walking and rolling for mobility across diverse environments • Performing complex tasks with arms and hands • Learning via teleoperation and imitation learning, allowing it to replicate tasks from just a few demonstrations.
Emanuele: “We can teleoperate AEON using the latest VR technology as it can mimic human movement, learn from it, and repeat the task reliably. That’s what makes it so powerful.”
What truly sets AEON apart is its sensor integration, with over 22 sensors onboard, including cameras for 360-degree awareness, environmental detection, and object recognition.
Even battery management is autonomous, as Emanuele explained:
“AEON can swap its own batteries to maintain 24/7 uptime.
That’s vital for industrial operations.” Backed by a world-class network of partners—including Microsoft, NVIDIA, and maxon, Hexagon AB has been able to leverage cloud computing, edge AI, simulation environments, and high-performance actuators to push the boundaries of robotics.
At the Hexagon Live, AEON performed numerous tasks, even scanning a car door.
