Mick George brings Sirius Group Ktec scrapers powered by Volvo ADTs onto earthworks project

Mick George has a huge project in Lutterworth to move 1.2 million cubic metres of earth. With a new fleet of equipment worth over £4.5m working hard onsite, they have recently been joined by the K-Tec Earthmovers scraper team at The Sirius Group, for a special trial. Peter Haddock caught up with Plant Director, Stuart Kirk onsite with SMT GB's Paul Martin to see the scrappers in action, thanks to an invite from Joe Nelson, contracts director for Mick George.

They are certainly an impressive piece of kit and with the brand new Volvo Construction Equipment Stage V ADT's fitted as the powerhouse at the front and a Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd supplied Komatsu Construction D85X Dozer pushing from the back, they are formidable earthmovers. Of course, this move to new Stage V engines also means a 5% fuel saving, so fewer carbon emissions. One to watch for major #earthworks projects like High-Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd) or Highways England we think.
