National Highways new Roads Research Alliance explained with Dr Joanna White and Peter Haddock

At Highways UK Peter Haddock met with Dr Joanna White, National Highways Roads Development Director in the event press office.  They talked about self-healing materials, new technologies, different ways of working and what is going to be possible as the Alliance comes together.

Joanna also explained how research from the University of Cambridge will combine with digital and practical actions to deliver better outcomes across the road building, running and maintenance cycles for National Highways in the future.  The Alliance itself has been formed by combining over 20 companies from its supply chain, which have joined forces to define and develop a portfolio of innovative projects for the roads sector.

Funding has been provided by both the UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and the EU Marie Sklodowska Curie Action, with supply chain partners, also contributing.  Want to know all about how the Alliance will work for the industry over the next five years, listen to the interview below.
