Lucas was invited for an exclusive visit to the Caterpillar Desford UK facility, where the range is manufactured, to find out about the new models. He got to film them in action and walk around the range with Elie, picking out the key features that were important to him and customers. The next-generation includes a 906, 907, 980 & 980 high lift. Lucas started in the all new cab with its curved glass windscreen for great visibility and seat mounted joysticks. He also got to test out the heated or cooled seat controls and adjustable air conditioning. He then moved on to the new filtration system and the all important C2.8 Stage V engine with upgraded drive and powertrain. This delivers the power for the new hydraulic system and roading speeds of up to 25mph from a 55.7kW output. Lucas then went around the new 908 High Lift to talk about the reach and that all important improvement to operator comfort with the programmable kickouts. Lucas finishes with a review of the range and the 50+ options available, from the cab configuration to new auxiliary lines, lighting packages and the huge range of attachments.
