Scanning Mega Superyachts with Folkert Boermans owner of industry specialists Lido 2D3D

Megayachts & Superyachts are both big and expensive, so ensuring they are ship shape and ready to use at any time is crucial for owners and crew. But how do you build the best, refurbish a yacht to perfection and spot when maintenance or repairs are required, even before they become a bigger and more costly issue? Well, you regularly scan them of course, using the latest technology from Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon, as Peter Haddock found out at #hxgnliveglobal in Las Vegas recently. There he met with Folkert Boermans CEO of Lido 2D/3D a specialist in the luxury yacht building sector. The team uses the latest in technology and skilled draughtsmen and women to get 100% accurate drawings and models. Folkert: "We scan the biggest yachts in the World using Leica Geosystem equipment to a tolerance of 2mm. We want to work with technology that enables us to produce accurate models quickly so we can support our clients." It's fascinating to hear about how technology is being used in this very niche sector and it just goes to show how you can deliver designs to millimetre accuracy.
