Spillard showcases AI safety solution and wins the Safety Innovation Award at Plantworx 2023

Peter Haddock caught up with Pete Spillard on its stand with some safety dummies to find out more about the solution and its partnership with Flannery Plant Hire.

Pete Spillard: “Over the last 30 years, we have been working with the industry to improve safety on site and to win the Plantworx award is a great recognition of the efforts the whole team have made to bring the latest AI solutions into the market.”

“There are three core elements to the solution we have developed. The first is human detection, the second is how we alert the workforce, including the plant operator, and the third is how we deliver a visual led data package to a site or plant management team.

“All of this approach helps to keep people safe and also change behaviours on site, particularly when operatives also get an audible alert when they are getting too close to the machine.”

Peter Haddock added: “It’s great to see Plantworx highlighting safety in its awards and how the industry is working in partnership to deliver cutting edge solutions that ultimately help to prevent injuries and fatalities.

"If we can use these types of systems to change behaviours and support operators who have a challenging job to do, then we have a great opportunity to ensure everyone goes home safely every day.”
