Talking technology skills Richard MD of Blue Dot Plantforce Leica Geosystems operator Niall

Peter Haddock interviews Blue Dot Construction MD, Richard Dors about how the business is collaborating with Plantforce Rentals to deliver a major warehouse project, using Leica Geosystems 3D machine control and surveying equipment.

They also discuss how the business is supporting 21 year old uni student and 'Fast Track' apprentice, Ted Powell, on his first major project. The warehouse project has big concrete slabs and hard standing for trucks, so it requires a lot of material.

But by using machine control and the millimetre accuracy it provides, the site can keep material costs down, whilst also drawing down 'as built' data to map site progress. Peter also catches up with experienced operator Niall O'Connell, who is new to #3DMC to talk about how it's changing the way he works with the Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd supplied Komatsu Europe D65 PX, he is operating.

This machine is also working alongside a Leica Geosystems semi-automatic Kobelco Construction Machinery Europe B.V. SK210 excavator with SMP Parts tiltrotator, supplied by Molson Equipment. It's really great to see such enthusiasm from Richard and Niall and to understand the impact a collaborative approach is having onsite.
