Training wins as Flannery and Leica Geosystems share industry award at Plantworx 2023

At the Plantworx Innovation Awards, Flannery Plant Hire and Leica Geosystems shared the industry training award category. Peter Haddock caught up with Chris Matthew and Neil Williams at the show to learn more.

Peter has been to the Operator Skills Hub and the Whitchurch Leica Geosystems School, and both are brilliant facilities.

Peter: ”It’s great to see how far industry training has come over the last few years. With both businesses collaborating, it shows just how important investment is in this area.”

Neil Williams: “A key part of our training journey has been to support end users like Flannery with our train the trainer programme, as well as opening up our machine control and surveying training facility to organisations like National Highways and Tier 1 contractors.

"Winning this award is a big boost for the whole team that has worked so hard to change how we train and support end-users."

Chris Matthew added: “As well as our static facilities, we now have a mobile training centre which we can take onsite to do training with not just operators but also their managers and those responsible for the safety and productivity of sites up and down the country.

"And with support from partners like Leica Geosystems, we can continue to evolve our training as technologies come into the market, like the 3D collision avoidance we have just introduced with Xwatch Safety Solutions . None of this can happen without the hard work of all those involved in the process, so well done to all of them."

Peter concluded: “For me, I am really pleased that the judges recognised both Flannery and Leica Geosystems as I know how hard both organisations have worked and have seen the benefits operators and others have had training on the very latest equipment.”
