UK first Cat 315 GC excavator in action onsite with leading plant hire specialist Ashbrook

Peter Haddock talks to Ashbrook's  Paul Pitney and operator Mat Lycett. They discuss the new Caterpillar Inc. Cat 315 GC machine and how Ashbrook is working with dealer Finning UK & Ireland.

 They discuss the new Caterpillar Inc. GC machine and how Ashbrook is working with dealer Finning UK & Ireland. It's all part of a continuous fleet renewal programme and as a major Caterpillar user, Paul and the team were quick to snap up the UK's first machine.

Paul: "It's the next generation, a compact machine that offers our customers exactly what they need. Having been with Caterpillar for over 20 years now it's fantastic to bring this new product into the fleet as we continue to expand our range with the dealer Finning.

"The GC range offers a really cost-effective solution for our customers, the 315 has a bigger cab and better visibility. It's also more powerful with a Stage V engine and a compact design, making it perfect for our customers, it even has full air conditioning." At 6ft 3, operator Mat is tall and has struggled in machines in the past.

He added: "It's a lot easier to operate being a compact radius machine as I often work in tight environments. Having also been on the 313, I find the larger machine has a lot more power and a bigger cab making it easier to operate. With the 315 I can use bigger buckets, so it also helps to get the job done quicker."

Paul: "Like all our Cat assets, this machine is connected to Product Link, helping us to maintain great uptime for customers. And with the extended life filters and oil changes, it is better for the environment. The new security features with operator codes and/or Cat app access also make it better for the customer."
