14/11/2023 The EcoFriendly Loo from Cabintec
Peter Haddock took a closer look at the very spacious loo on a recent visit to the Cabintec manufacturing facility in Northern Ireland.
From welding to solar panel installation, all finished with a posh coffee. Peter Haddock explores how Cabintec makes welfare facilities that are like a ‘home from home’ with Mark Tootill.
To learn more, he popped over to Northern Ireland to see its impressive production facility where steel gets cut, welded, painted, baked and turned into the latest environmentally friendly welfare units, like its specially designed Sisk Eco range.
Mark Tootill: "For the Sisk Eco range, we worked with the team to specify what their requirements were for a welfare unit and being able to generate and store its own electricity was a key factor in reducing its overall carbon footprint.
"To achieve this, we have mounted solar panels on the roof and a battery system, as well as using sensor driven LED lighting to reduce energy consumption.
"Additionally, we have added our new remote monitoring system, which has an LED display in the unit with data that can also be accessed through our website portal from any connected device.
"It's a great solution supported in the winter months by a backup generator, which kicks in when the battery falls below 66%."
The design of the Cabintec welfare units also focuses on longevity, with sections welded together that can be simply replaced if any damage occurs. And with its own paintshop onsite, the team can cater to a range of customer colour options and combinations.
Peter even saw a black and yellow welfare unit being sent out for delivery to a customer in Scotland, specified with a very large fresh water and waste tank combination due to the remote locations it was being used in.
He also got to help the team apply special sealant and glue to the cabins. Fortunately, some experts were on hand to ensure it was all done correctly, which you will also be able to see in this video.
