Reaching new heights with the hand powered Nav 45 scissor lift

Having met the team from Metal and Modular on the Executive Hire Show Innovation trail in February, Peter Haddock took a visit to its manufacturing facility in Flore Northamptonshire to test out its latest zero emissions model.

Lee Crosse joined Peter to demonstrate some of the key functions that make the range so simple and safe to use.

The Nav 4.5 has a working height of 4.5 metres, and its sister product, the Nav 6.0 is the UK's only manual scissor lift with a working height of 6.0 metres.

Lee: "When we designed the range, we wanted to have a product that is easy and safe to use without the need for diesel or battery power. So with the Nav range, you can use it indoors or outdoors in any location, and because it is Made in the UK and supported by our team, it's perfect for end-users or rental fleets."

Key additional features and safety benefits of the Nav 4.5 include:

  • Lightweight compared to conventional scissor lifts
  • Sized to fit through doorways
  • Simple to manhandle and capable of holding an operative and tools
  • Safe and simple to operate and reach the exact height needed
  • Failsafe return to ground mechanism
  • Anti Climb Vertical Guardrails

Peter added: "When I saw the product at the Executive Hire Show, I really wanted to test it out for myself, and as you can see in this video, it is very simple to use.

"I often talk about reducing emissions, and sometimes if you take a step back as the team at Metal and Modular has done in this case, it doesn't have to be complicated.

"The design also means that for the hire market, there is minimal maintenance, and I didn't realise that by changing to vertical guardrails, you eliminate the temptation to climb.

"I really enjoyed meeting the team, and I hope you will agree that they certainly have made my content reach new heights, powered by my very own hands."
