Talking AI and machine learning with Liebherr Group

2025 will be a big year for AI and machine learning, and Liebherr Group is gearing up to take full advantage of the technologies.

To find out more, Peter Haddock caught up with Heinz Klemm, Managing Director of its Digital Development Center, at its recent press event.

Heinz: “Over the last few years, we have been investing heavily in our team to develop new large language models and software solutions that harness the power of AI.

“Our approach is very much about accelerating change for customers at lots of different levels. For example, we are already in a semi-autonomous transition when it comes to machine capabilities, and learning from this will assist in the development of a fully autonomous future.

“In order to get there, we need to both support and train our people who, in turn, can support our customers.

“It’s also about how we collect and utilise telemetry data to understand how to optimise the performance of our equipment whilst giving customers the information they need to keep uptime levels high.”

Peter Haddock added: “It’s certainly interesting to see how Liebherr has developed its own digital centre of excellence and how this is integrating solutions not just at a machine level but also through customer service and manufacturing.

“I personally think that 2025 is certainly going to be an interesting year when it comes to AI and advanced technology solutions and I am looking forward to reporting on them.”
