Ammanns green asphalt initiatives support the actual road to net zero

New asphalt innovations, including a world-first Hydrogen burner and a new drum design, combine with specialist' blue smoke' and 'VOC' gas treatment to reduce emissions dramatically.

In this first trailer video for our Ammann mini-series, Peter Haddock showcases some of the new products and technological advances from the top of the Unibatch 140 asphalt mixing plant.

The plant can make 140 tonnes of asphalt an hour, and it was set up as part of the Ammann 'Green Days Launch' at its manufacturing facility near Verona, Italy.

In 2024, you will be able to hear from the Ammann experts as Peter talks to them about its industry's first hydrogen burner that can be retrofitted to any OEM plant. He also got inside its new (not so sticky) Asphalt drum.

In addition, he had an in-depth chat with one of its clever engineers about its specialist new treatment systems, the first of which treats the 'blue smoke' that is formed when trucks are loaded.

They also talked about its new VOC Reduction Device, which reduces volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odours and other organic carbon emissions using a new innovative approach that can self-clean.

Much like its hydrogen burner, both of these treatment systems can also be retrofitted to existing Ammann plants and other OEMs.

So stay tuned in 2024 for our exclusive new series, where Peter looks at a whole new sector of our industry that is changing the way we make asphalt, turning the process of making the black stuff greener.
