Cat C13D engine walkaround with expert Allen Chen

Caterpillar showcases its new Cat C13D, 13 litre diesel engine platform at its recent press launch.

Peter Haddock caught up with product specialist Allen Chen, who highlighted some of the key features that customers will be seeing in equipment from 2026. The new engine is designed to achieve best-in-class power density, torque and fuel efficiency for optimising the performance of heavy duty off-highway applications.

It has already been tested in some hard applications by a range of customers, and it has received some excellent feedback, as Allen explains in this video. Some key facts for you: 

  • Eight power ratings from 456 to 690 hp (340 to 515 kW) with up to 2360 lb. ft. (3200 Nm) of peak torque.
  • Inline, six-cylinder Cat C13D engine platform
  • Engine-mounted aftertreatment and cooling packs will also be available.
  • Engine platform enables the use of renewable liquid fuels such as 100% HVO, B100 distilled biodiesel, and even up to B100 standard biodiesel by working with Cat dealers.
