JCB launch new three tonne swivel tip dumper

Peter Haddock spoke to product expert Rhys Bradbury about the features of the 3TE model, which is powered by a rechargeable 20kWh lithium-ion battery.

This provides electricity to two electric motors, a 22.3kW version delivering to the drive box and a second 16.1kW motor powering the machine’s standard hydraulic circuit.

This means the 3TE has no carbon emissions at the point of use and operates quietly compared to a diesel equivalent, allowing for use in indoor environments and inner city low emission zones.

In this video, Rhys also talks through the charging options, including the fast charging capability facilitated by JCB’s universal fast charger.

Rhys: “The machine gives you plenty of battery life for a full day shift and charging times with the fast charger are just two hours with the standard charging option taking eight hours.

“From a safety perspective, we have included a two step drive inhibit system. This means the operator has to sit on the seat and plug in the seatbelt in order for the machine to move.

“We also have a full ROPS frame, with lighting and beacons to protect the operator. In addition, an inclinometer gauge on top of the dashboard provides the operator with a visual and audible warning if they are approaching tipping over point.”

Peter added: “The 3TE is another important addition to the JCB electric range, allowing users to take advantage of a larger skip capacity which can marry with other products in the range like the JCB mini excavator. Helping to deliver a fully electric onsite solution.”
