JCB launches two new two and a half tonne mini excavators

JCB launches two new 2.5 tonne compact radius mini excavators, the 25Z-1 zero tailswing model and the 26C-1 conventional counterweight

Expert Guy Hall talks Peter Haddock through the key features of the 25Z-1 and explains how the machine is going to be a BIG plant hire favourite due to its capabilities, size and weight.

Key features discussed include:

- 25Z-1 weighing 2,550kg and the 26C-1 weighing 2,675kg

-Overall width of 1,500mm, so both machines can be towed behind a van or a 4x4 on a 3.5-tonne trailer

- Nine tie-down points for easy strapdown

- Pressed steel bolded on bodywork sections and a cast counterweight

- Redesigned bigger cab (Peter can fit in nicely)

- Improved dig-end geometry with 500-hour greasing intervals

- Electro-proportional auxiliary, swing and dozer controls

- In-cab heater and optional air conditioning

- ‘Follow-me home’ work lights

- Front screen has a 66/34 split line (see Peter storing it away)

And there are numerous other features with good accessibility for daily maintenance.

Big thanks to Nick Drew, aka The Digger Man Blogger, for operating the machine in this video.
