Large all electric HX260E excavator revealed by Molson Group

Molson Group, in partnership with Urban Mobility Systems, reveal a large all-electric excavator with interchangeable batteries and hints at Hydrogen solutions to come.

Peter Haddock walks around the new all-electric Hyundai/UMS HX260E crawler excavator, developed in partnership with Dutch clean tech engineering firm Urban Mobility Systems with technical expert Shaun Harrison.

Shaun also explains how Molson is already working to bring Hydrogen powered machines to market. All of which are focused around a 'no compromise' strategy to deliver comparable operating performance and refuelling solutions to match traditional diesel equivalents.

Shaun: "Demand for large electric machines is definitely growing, but much like electric cars end-users are worried about refuelling and battery capability.

"This is why we have developed the HX260E with interchangeable batteries that take the same time to change out as it would take to refuel a diesel equivalent.

"In addition, we have not compromised on performance. In fact, the HX260E is more powerful, and of course, that power is immediately available. And not just to support a standard bucket but also to run more power hungry attachments like tiltrotators, all from a machine platform with a proven performance."

Peter added: “Having already tested the machine in real-world conditions, the HX260E is a 'ready to go' solution for those users who need a more powerful machine for the ever-increasing tasks that need to be achieved with zero emissions at the point of use.

“Not forgetting, of course, the additional applications that require a quieter running machine.

“As we walked around the machine, you could see just how much work had gone into the design of the electric solution and the robust nature of the battery solution, which is mounted onto the top of the machine.”

In addition to the HX260E a new battery powered Senebogen material handler was also on display, and a big HYDROGEN graphic hinted at what will be coming soon.

And you can be sure Peter will be looking into what the next Hydrogen innovation looks like, which is already in testing.
