LiuGong on the future of electric mobile plant

With 40 battery-powered models by 2027 and 12 models by quarter one in 2025, LiuGong is going all in on its BEV range, and there are some surprising machines in the pipeline.

At its recent BEV experience, Peter Haddock caught up with Chairman Howard Dale and European Product Director, Harry Mellor at its European HQ in Poland.

Howard: “We have been building our customer base in Europe for over a decade now, and our aim is to be a leading player in the BEV market.

"To do this, we have invested in a huge new dedicated manufacturing facility in China that will support our ambitious rollout, including motor graders, telehandlers, access equipment, rollers and more.

"To date, we already have over a million hours of operation on our products. One of our 856 E wheel loaders has clocked up over 2,500 hours of operation, and the motor and battery are performing well.

Harry added: “For me, it's about going beyond the battery to being an advisor for our customers, making the end to end process work. So whether you are charging overnight, or installing off-grid capabilities above or below the ground, we have a solution that can work.

"By the end of this year, we will have delivered 300 BEVs to UK and European customers.“

One of those machines is a 922FE excavator purchased recently by Flannery Plant Hire with an operating weight of 24 tonnes, which we hope to see in action onsite.
