LiuGong reveal 8110TE its largest battery electric wheel loader

The LiuGong 8110TE is the largest battery electric wheel loader they have made to date, and it’s the biggest one I have ever seen.

Powered by a huge 706kW hour battery, I caught up with expert James Green at its Global Dealer event in China to find out more.

James: “This machine will transform operations for large scale customers wanting to go electric. It’s a true production-class machine aimed at quarrying and mining applications. One 8110TE is already heading to Australia, and the demand is building rapidly, even in the rental market.

“The 706 kWh battery plays two roles as it powers the machine and acts as a counterweight to support its load and carry operations. And to charge it, we have not one but two charge points.

“This dual setup can charge at up to 600 kW, taking full advantage of our newly launched power solutions, which include chargers and battery storage units. So we are able to get power into it very quickly, fully charging in around an hour.

“This is not a niche, low-duty machine. It’s designed to work full production shifts, with customers able to choose from a standard arm or a long arm configuration, which is designed for loading 50 tonne rigid dump trucks.

“Bucket capacity sits around 6.5 cubic metres, depending on material type, with specifications tailored for penetration in rock or bulk handling.”

Inside the cab, the focus remains on the operator and safety as James explained

“The cab is the heart of any machine. It’s the operator’s office. We’ve made it as comfortable as possible with great visibility, ergonomic controls, a 10.1-inch touchscreen and 360 degree camera system.

Moving to the rear of the machine, James revealed a substantial cooling pack supported by reversible fans. James: “The fans automatically clean the cooling pack, keeping the machine and battery pack at optimum temperature, even in the harshest conditions.

With LiuGong also showcasing large rigid dump trucks, excavators and its new electric scraper at the event, all electric fleet matching with the 8110TE is now possible.
