Metso showcase the Lokotrack range with Caterpillar engines at Bauma

Celebrating 40 Years of Metso Lokotrack and 36 years of collaboration with Caterpillar Inc., driving the diesel and hybrid range forward at bauma Peter Haddock caught up with Lokotrak specialist Janne Lahtela to talk about the product journey that began in 1985 and continues to evolve with a powerful push into hybrid technology.

Janne: “Everybody knows Lokotrack because we are the original ones who made the first crushers and screeners on top of a track-mounted platform. And our customers have been bringing our machines to where their work is for decades now.” Peter added: “That simplicity has made the Lokotrack such a global success. But the latest innovation, the diesel-electric Lokotrack E series hybrid range, shows where the future is headed.”

Janne: “Our Lokotrak range integrates with Caterpillar’s trusted engine technology, where we use a variety of engines from the C3.6 to the C18 to deliver flexibility across power demands, emissions tiers, and global use cases. “We’ve worked closely with Caterpillar and our local distributor, Avesco Oy, to continually develop our machines, more recently design custom cooling and air filtration layouts,” “This kind of collaboration is how we’ve achieved key goals like a three-metre transport width, which is essential for mobility.” “By working with its global dealer network we can also support our customers wherever they are working."
