New electric and tracking concrete solutions from Liebherr

Liebherr concrete solutions go all electric with clever technology that is now able to monitor the condition of loads in transit, as Peter Haddock discovered.  

At his first concrete stop in this video, he spoke to Nico Mueller about the new all-electric concrete mixer with the electric drum transported by an electric Mercedes truck.

Nico: "For this new all-electric concrete mixer, we have the same nine cubic metre drum with a 10.5 cubic meter capacity in total to include water. But the difference is it can be used in low emissions zones and even inside. 

"The whole solution runs off the truck-mounted battery, which will last a full working day and charge in around six hours. And, of course, when the truck is not moving, it's not using electricity, but it is still powering the drum."

And thanks to some clever technology Liebherr has developed, site teams can monitor the condition and track the concrete itself even when it's on the move. This is thanks to 'Concrete Connect', as product expert Sebastien Jean Hegy explained. 

Sebastien: "This is a new telemetry system we have designed to link with sensors that can monitor the concrete from the batching plant to the pump on site so you have complete traceability. 

"All of this information is accessible from our new portal, which is part of our My Liebherr suite of digital solutions. 

"Crucially, it ensures the right batch reaches the right location. And, particularly for ultra high performance mixes, that the temperature in transit stays within key thresholds, particularly in summer. 

“Ultimately, this protects the end user by alerting them to any changes so they can make the right decisions when a load reaches the site. This might include extra testing, for example, or rejecting that particular load. "

For the final concrete discovery, Peter climbed up a Liebherr batching plant, which has been fitted with clever solutions to remove the peaks when making concrete. This solution reduces the overall cost to customers, supporting better profitability.
