Supporting surveyors and engineers with a Common Data Environment

"Surveyors and engineers are a critical part of delivering projects… but the reality is their workflows are often ignored by traditional Common Data Environments." says Joel Gregory, CEO of 12d Synergy.

At Hexagon Live, Peter Haddock had the opportunity to catch up with Joel to dive deeper into how 12d Synergy is rethinking CDEs this time, with the surveyor front and centre.

Joel: "We are here at Hexagon AB Live as a global partner to its businesses, including Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon, showcasing how we have developed a cloud-based solution that works for everyone, including surveyors.

"At 12d Synergy, we're completely data agnostic, so our system can accept any file format, any product, and it works seamlessly."

"We have also made the interface very familiar to give users a better experience. For example, the front end looks like Windows Explorer, where you can just double click and your authoring tool opens. For most people, it just feels like their standard workflow.

"We are also fully in the cloud, so you can go from the office to the field, and back again, eliminating the need for network drives or memory sticks. It's all synchronised through the cloud.

"This also means everyone has 'One version of the truth'. So whether you're collecting data using tools like the Leica AP20 Autopole or sitting in the cab using machine control, you've got the latest data in real time.

"With surveyors and engineers now being the key data managers for project delivery. It's important for us to provide them with the tools they need to access and update data, such as the models that projects now depend on."
