Inside The Sandvik Drill Rig Powered By Caterpillar

Sandvik showcases its latest Pantera DP1500i top hammer drill rig at Bauma with the new Cat C9.3 engine Peter Haddock took a walk around the machine with expert Jarno Viitaniemi to learn more Jarno:

“By upgrading to the new Cat Engine have been able to achieve higher efficiency whilst lowering fuel consumption, delivering an enhanced operator experience. “Compared to the previous C11 engine, the C9.3 is more compact, which allows for a smarter internal configuration, delivering the high compressed air power and hydraulic power we need.

We are now seeing roughly five to six litres per hour in fuel savings “We have used Caterpillar engines in our drills for more than 30 years, and their reliability and worldwide dealer service network are key reasons we continue to rely on them.”

Through its MySandvik cloud services, the rig transmits service data in real-time, providing diagnostics, error messages, and service indicators to improve maintenance and reduce downtime. Jarno added: “When it comes to the operator, we have improved noise dampening and with our ergonomic controls, comfort, and safety features they can feel more relaxed in the cab. This helps them to stay focused during shifts.”
