Talking buckets and GET with Strickland at Molson Group Open Day

“Having a machine without a bucket is like trying to drive a car without a steering wheel.”

Peter Haddock talks to Nicola Troy of bucket and GET manufacturer Strickland MFG at the Molson Group Open Day to learn more about its range and how it designs and manufactures its buckets and GET in the UK at its Evesham facility.

Nicola: “When we started the business, we had plant hirers in mind, so we looked to create buckets that were strong, robust and adaptable enough for all different environments, from hard rock in Scotland right the way down to China Clay in Cornwall.

“This led our design team to over engineer our products to give them longevity. We also recognised the importance of GET, designing our buckets to accept industry standard sizes whilst also making and fitting our own.

“Recently, we have seen a much bigger demand for bladed buckets as more equipment is used with tiltrotators. So for these products, we provide bolt-on reversible blades to increase the life of the GET.”

Peter: “The bladed bucket is definitely benefitting from the explosion of tiltrotators from Engcon UK Ltd , Steelwrist, SMP Parts, Rototilt UK Ltd and more.

“And when you combine tiltrotators with 3D machine control from the likes of Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon, you can understand just how important maintaining bladed buckets has become.

“This is because when calibrated to a machine using the onboard tablet, they can now act as onsite surveyors, taking readings to confirm ‘as dug’ trenches etc.”

Peter added: “Supporting manufacturing in the UK is important to me. So it’s great to see Strickland manufacturing buckets at its facility in Evesham and having a strategic relationship with dealer Molson Equipment.
