12/12/2024 Ford Civil Engineering doubles business using AGTEK to tender its earthworks projects
'Using AGTEK to tender our earthworks projects has doubled the size of the business in the last seven years to £36m' That's the message from Nick Hughes, Director of Dorset-based Ford Civil Engineering, when Peter Haddock spoke to him recently at the UK's first AGTEK community user group held at the Leica Geosystems' The School'.
RMG Groundworks Ltd turned a brownfield site into a housing estate, combining AGTEK Development Company, Inc. software with Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon surveying solutions and 3D machine control.
It was the biggest project they had won a few years ago, and now it's full of houses - see a video here on October 2022 explaining how the project was secured -

To find out how the team has benefitted from its total 3D approach, from tendering to managing the project with AGTEK, Peter Haddock recently caught up with Commercial Director, Brendan Morgan onsite. Brendan:
"Since we used AGTEK to win and deliver this project we have continued to expand the business and increase the size of the jobs we can deliver.
"It's definitely the way forward for us, as managing material onsite is the biggest part of a project like this. Before we even got onto this site, we were able to model and visualise this project, reducing the risk and showing the client how we could deliver to their tight schedule.
"We even recently started on a project where our modelling for the client actually supported its feasibility, which was brilliant.
"On a practical note, our engineers and operators now work much closer together, and we can quickly update our models. Clients are also really engaged as they can see the project's progress in AGTEK.
"From a commercial perspective, we are now much more efficient and have a streamlined process that works.
"And believe it or not, I actually enjoy going to tender meetings because we are showing clients the site at the completion stage using the software, which they have never seen before." Peter added:
“For me, the story of RMG Groundworks has been really eye opening. They are a business not afraid to be different, and certainly their early adoption of a combined technology approach has been transformational. But it's when you meet the team two years later on another project (see future videos to come) that you really can see the impact its continued journey is making. It's been a huge team effort all around.
