Two leading US civils and earthworks contractors share how AGTEK is evolving with AI and why connected workflows are becoming critical to performance.
Broadford Surveying Ltd launches industry first AGTEK Development Company, Inc. powered service at PlantWorx Construction Exhibition 2025
“It’s easier to get the 3D earthworks model right, easier to train people…and unlike other programs it doesn’t take you years to get good at using AGTEK .”
How do US contractors use 'dirt simple' software AGTEK to deliver projects using traditional and drone surveying?
“Once we’re ready to bring an AGTEK site model to life, we install it on our surveying equipment like our Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon ICG70 GPS rover and ICR80 robotic total station, as well as on the excavators that use the MC1 machine control solution, explained surveyor Alex Miles of RMG Groundworks Ltd when Peter Haddock met him onsite.
In a recent visit to a site in Wales, Peter Haddock caught up again with operator Scooby, who he first met three years ago on a site with RMG Groundworks where he was using Leica Geosystems 3D Machine Control.
“When you can use technology to make a project viable and successful, it’s a game-changer for the industry and the economy. And it all starts with leveraging the right tools and expertise at every step."
RMG Groundworks Ltd turned a brownfield site into a housing estate, combining AGTEK Development Company, Inc. software with Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon surveying solutions and 3D machine control.
"It’s not just about the tech, it’s about building a community of knowledge." Says Mark Brueton Chief Engineering Surveyor at BAM Nuttall.
“Using surveying equipment, drones, and AGTEK, we can now seamlessly create and load models into our Leica Geosystems 3D machine controlled excavators. “This enables our operators to work more efficiently on-site and monitor their progress.”
We are very excited about the latest advances in the software that will help us use more drone data”, says Brendan Morgan, Commercial Director of RMG Groundworks Ltd based in Newport, Wales.
'Using AGTEK to tender our earthworks projects has doubled the size of the business in the last seven years to £36m' That's the message from Nick Hughes, Director of Dorset-based Ford Civil Engineering, when Peter Haddock spoke to him recently at the UK's first AGTEK community user group held at the Leica Geosystems' The School'.
Winning work always comes first, but how to make it profitable happens next, as Tom O’Brien of O’Brien Contractors explains to Peter Haddock following its recent rollout of AGTEK's dirt simple earthworks solution.
Winning work, reducing carbon emissions and delivering projects on time and on budget are all challenges faced particularly by small to medium-sized earthworks contractors across the globe.
Peter Haddock recently caught up with its President, Matthew Desmond, at Hexagon Live in Las Vegas to learn more about the solution and how it is helping contractors win profitable work.
